A Pinwheel for Anna

The spirit of Anna Lapsley will speak to you, but only through the breeze.

Chris and I spent the afternoon at Laurel Hill Cemetery, walking all the way to the edge of the south section and back. For those of you who have not visited LHC, trust me when I say this was a hike.

The walk was worth it though. Chris found the gravestones of several “permanent residents” that he has researched recently. All of them – an artist, an abolitionist, an orator, a murder victim – are people with fascinating stories that have seldom been told.

While we were at LHC, I installed a new pinwheel at the Lapsley family gravesite. Anna Lapsley can communicate with us again.

I have it on good authority that Anna has the most benign and benevolent spirit of all of the permanent residents at Laurel Hill Cemetery. According to my sources, when you’re at LHC, you can visit Anna with your questions, problems, heartaches, etc., and she will give you advice that will soothe your soul. But she can only communicate with you through the breeze, via a conduit, the pinwheel.

Truth be told, for a cemetery tour guide, I fall firmly on the skeptic side of all things paranormal. At the same time though, I try to keep a wide-enough margin for wonderment in my life. And that’s why I replaced Anna’s pinwheel today.
