An Elvis Impersonator Story Featuring Nicolas Cage

I saw Nic Cage, star of 'Kick-Ass' and 'Kick-Ass 2', receive his star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.

A guy struck up a conversation with me in the post office yesterday morning. He shared that his mother had married an Elvis impersonator and they were living their best lives in Florida. I responded by sharing my own 100% true Elvis impersonator story:

I have spent exactly one morning in my lifetime in Hollywood, in the summer of 1998. I arrived around 9:30 and was checking out all the stars as I walked along Hollywood Boulevard. Signage that was posted everywhere indicated that noted movie star Nicolas Cage would be receiving his own star at 11:00 that very morning.

I had nothing better to do, so I spent the next hour searching for more stars embedded in the sidewalk and loitering near Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Gradually a crowd began to form in anticipation of Nic Cage’s arrival. As 11:00 approached, Cage arrived and was greeted lustily by all of us in the crowd, which included the Elvis impersonator standing next to me.

Nic Cage walked quickly down the street slapping hands. I was within ten feet of him, but did not get a hand slap, as he was just moving too quickly. Don’t think the Elvis impersonator got a Nic Cage hand slap either, but I’m sure he was happy to be there just the same.
