Museum Item #2: A Promo Photo of Cher
I need to Cher this.

The Grammy Awards are happening tonight. As I was putting away groceries and listening to Cher’s 1979 album, Take Me Home, it occurred to me that Cher — Cher, of all people — has never won a Grammy Award! What the hell is that about?
Turns out, a quick Google search set me straight: Cher has indeed won one of the seven Grammies for which she has been nominated during a career that stretches back to 1647. In 2000 she took home a well-deserved gramophone trophy in the “Best Dance Recording” category for “Believe”, a song that remains an anthem for all of us.
In addition, Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” was enshrined in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2017.
Cher is still a T away from EGOT status, but a one-woman show on the Great White Way ought to take care of that quickly, am I right? You know I am.
Also, I think that “I Got You Baby” ought to be entered into the U.S. Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. But that’s a conversation for another time.
The main point I want to make is that if Cher had indeed not won a single Grammy award, I was going to go on a rant about that here. As I was planning this screed, I remembered that I have a late 1970s/early ‘80s promo photo of Cher that would be perfect to illustrate this entry! But the last time I had seen the photo, it was in the back seat of my car. Was it still there?
Indeed, it was! And this is why you won’t see it in the photo that I posted of the museum a few days ago. This egregious situation has now been corrected and the Cher promo photo is where it belongs.
Incidentally, I don’t have a clue how a Cher promo photo came into my life, though I have some theories.
