People Are Loving My 15-Year-Old Reese's Elvis Cup T-Shirt. And Why Not?

Inspired by the King.

Twice in recent weeks, someone has told me they like my Reese’s Elvis Cup t-shirt. The t-shirt was produced in 2007 to coincide with an Elvis-themed peanut butter and banana crème candy cup.

I thought I had gotten the t-shirt for free by sending some candy wrappers to the Reese’s company, but Donna thinks my mom gave me the shirt. That sounds right.

The first person to compliment the shirt recently was a guy who was giving out samples of his new line of organic iced teas at Giant. Then, this morning at the post office, the guy behind me noticed the t-shirt and proclaimed his enjoyment of it. He asked if we knew each other and then said something like, “I don’t think we do, but you have a kind face.”

I have looked at my face over the past year in the mirror, in selfies, and in photos other people have taken. I’ve seen a sad face, an angry face, a perplexed face. But not necessarily a kind face. It was nice to hear that.

He then told me that his mother had married an Elvis impersonator and they’re now living their best lives in Florida. I told him an Elvis impersonator story as well, one that I will tell here in a future entry.
