"Would You Like to Take a Break?"
Why, yes, Car, but maybe not the one you had in mind.

About 12:30 this morning, my car asked me a question.
The car ride home from Fredericksburg, Virginia, had been uneventful. We had cruised through Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. Amazingly, we had not made a single rest top.
Just after we crossed the Pennsylvania border, though, our car’s dashboard asked me the question, “Would you like to take a break?”. This message was accompanied by an illustration of an enticing cup of coffee.
I said, “No, Car, we’re 20 minutes from home, I’ve totally got this.”
I read this morning that the car can sense when the driver is drowsy, which prompts the question. The fact that it asked last night is surprising to me because the drive had been fine and I was not that sleepy. This made me wonder if the question was programmed to appear if the driver had not shut the car down for certain amount of time.
In any event, the question, “Would you like to take a break?” has inspired me to consider taking Sunday breaks from the Internet going forward. Maybe that’s what the car was asking me about after all. So, even though I have stories to tell about my adventures over the last week, I’ll be taking an Internet break the rest of today and subsequent Sundays.
Thanks, Car!
